Be patient with yourself

So, these last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me but one of the most important lessons I’ve learnt is to be patient – patient with others and most importantly myself, to not be so hard of myself because I am my biggest critic.

So, as you guys start our new recycling programme, I ask you to be patient with yourself on this new environmental journey. There may be the days that you forget to put the paper away and threw it away accidentally or you forgot to wash those bottles out before you put them in the bag but that’s ok…it happens. So don’t be too hard on yourself.

Remember this is something new you’ve embarked upon. You may never have thought to start recycling so give yourself time to get used to it. Put reminders in those places you see most to jog your memory!

And if it gets too overwhelming to do more than 1 recyclable, just start with 1! Do that until it becomes second nature before you add another and so that you feel less pressure.

Most importantly, have fun! You’ve made the decision to start so give yourself a pat on the back…

Remember it’s not about doing things better but sometimes we simply need to do better things and trust me – You be just started one of them!
